Meet Dr. Chris Mays, our resident paleobotanist, who has dedicated his professional life to exploring the secrets of prehistoric plants. At this event, you’ll learn how fossil plants can tell us about how life on Earth struggles during extreme warming events, and what has taken Dr. Mays from Australia to the Natural History Museum in Vienna!

Handle and prepare real fossils, and become a palaeontologist for the afternoon!
As part of this year’s Cork Lifelong Learning Festival, we invite you to Fossils for our Future.
UCC palaeontologists, Drs Chris Mays and Aidan Sweeney, will share their insights on the significance of fossils for understanding Earth’s past and present.
If you’re interested in becoming a citizen palaeontologist, come along and hear how you can get involved!
